The Joy of Creating – Rachel’s Design Team Projects for September

IMG_1007

Have you ever looked at something and it just instantly became your inspiration for a project?  That’s what happened to me this month while I was looking over some of my Kat Scrappiness embellishments.  I had Kat’s chipboard teapot and a picture of the my darling niece and I, so I put two and two together and this amazing layout was created.

I used the “Little Miss” collection from Bo Bunnyfor my background paper.  I layered everything in the center because the paper was so busy.  As you can see, my niece is wearing a giant dress-up hat that looks identical to the paper, which tied the entire teapot theme together.

First, I painted Kat’s chipboard teapot with white crackle paint to give it an aged look.   After it dried I did some minor embellishing with white enamel accents which gave it a texture ore like a real teapot.  Once that was dry, I tilted the chipboard teapot  to give the impression of pouring tea.  Lastly, I decided to place pearls all around the teapot making it look like a spill.

I love how the layout turned out.  It looks exactly as I imagined it and it all started with a Kat Scrappiness chipboard teapot.

My next layout is quick and easy to explain. I used my all time favorite embellishment from  Kat Scrappiness which is her chipboard camera.

The layout is a picture of my friends and I spending the day in San Francisco.  I titled it “Big Fun”.  The background paper is from the “Out of Print” collection by Basic Grey.   I wanted to make it unique so I used washi tape to embellish the chipboard camera.  It turned out so fun and funky that it fit my San Francisco pictures perfectly.

This month was so much fun for me because I was inspired by  Kat’s embellishments.

You can find all the products I mentioned in the Kat Scrappiness embellishment shop. Thanks so much for visiting me this month.
